Line 6 Spider
The Line 6 Spider was something of a game-changer when it first launched. It promised big things but didn’t really deliver on the goods. Chris, ELECTRIKJAM’s editor, bought one at launch and was not impressed by the Spider at all. Here’s what he told me about it the other day:
It was one of the first modeler amps..pretty much all of the sounds and effects on it are just fizzy and shi**y. Sounds like playing with a blanket on your amp.
Then they tried to make it better, by making a tube/valve version. But that was too expensive.
It was ahead of its time, but in a bad way. The technology wasn’t there yet to be good. I had one for practicing in my bedroom and I constantly fuc*ed with it trying to get it to sound right. Lol.
I had a nice Epiphone Les Paul with Duncan Jazz/JB. Which is the pickup combo MADE for metal and rock. Still sounded muffled and shi**y. The clean sounds weren’t awful.
But yeah, just in general…the Spyder is like the Boss Metal Zone. It’s a meme now.

Line 6 Pod Go
The Line 6 Pod Go is one of the latest Pod systems from Line 6. It brings with it a tone of effects and amp models. The Line 6 Pod Go is a streamlined floor processor and it runs over 270 Helix and legacy amp, stomp, and cabinet models. It also has 256 Presets (2 set-lists with 32 banks x 4 presets), 80+ Guitar/Bass Amps, 39 Cabinets, 16 Mic Models, and is designed for touring and use in the studio.
Look, the Line 6 POD GO is not going to be for everyone. For the guitarists that need deep editing, different I/O routings, and multi polyphonic tracking effects… it is not going to do all of that. People who are looking for a seriously in-depth experience should go for the Helix line.
But if you are looking for tones that work great live, as well as in the studio, then the POD GO might be for you. The Line 6 POD Go is made to be user-friendly and easy to set up out of the box. You can still edit patches, and create your own unique patches. The difference is the number of effects and amp sims you can use at once, and the blockchain that is set up by default.

The Line 6 Pod is a digital guitar amplifier modeler. Line 6 produced an entire series of these amp modelers. They were designed to negate the need for things like pedals and expensive amps. The Line 6 Pod can feed a signal into an amp or directly into a PA system. Line 6 updates its Pod series of products regularly, with the latest being the Line 6 Pod Go.
Line 6 HX Stomp
The Line 6 HX Stomp is designed to be insanely portable, making it an ideal choice for bedroom guitarists or those just starting out. The HX Stomp features over 300 amps, cabs, and effects from Helix’s extensive collection of tones, effects, and software. The HX Stomp can also double as a USB audio interface, so you can use it for recording at home, as well as when playing live on the road.
Line 6 Amp
Line 6 makes a range of amps designed for both home use and for touring. Loads of professional guitarists use Line 6 amps, both at home and in the studio. Pro users will gravitate towards Line 6’s DT25 Tube Amps and its POWERCAB, while more casual, hobbyist players will be better suited with its smaller amps like the Spider V MKII series or Line 6’s FRFR speakers which are designed to produce a flat tone ideal for those using digital modelers.
