The Schecter Demon 6 is perhaps one of the best value, affordable guitars on the market right now. If you want to play metal or hard rock, the Schecter Demon-6 is a near-perfect guitar for less than 450 bucks

You might not have heard of Schecter. It isnโ€™t as big as Ibanez, Fender, or Gibson. But it makes some truly killer guitars. And the Schecter Demon 6 is easily one of my favorites. For any aspiring metal guitarist, getting a great tone on a guitar that can shred is key. As are its pickups and the speed of the neck. The Schecter Demon-6 nails all three of these things with ease.

And then thereโ€™s the price. The Schecter Demon 6 retails for less than $450 in most places, placing it squarely in Squier territory. But unlike a Squier guitar, there are ZERO concessions here. The Schecter Demon-6 plays and looks like a guitar that costs twice as much as its humble retail. I honestly cannot think of a better guitar for the money.

But donโ€™t just take my word for it. Iโ€™m really not alone in my love for the Schecter Demon-6. Plenty of other writers and players love this guitar. Let’s dig into what really makes this guitar tick and explain why it is one of the best-value electric guitars under $450 on the market right now.

Schecter Demon-6 Pickups

The Schecter Demon-6 is one of the most ferocious guitars on the planet in this price bracket. Packing in a pair of Duncan Designed HB-105B humbucker (bridge), HB-105N (neck) pickups, the Schecter Demon-6 is perfect for lazer-fast licks, screaming lead, and brutal rhythm guitar parts.

The clean tones, by contrast, are beautiful too, almost angelic. Itโ€™s a brilliant combination and only adds to the Schecter Demon-6โ€™s allure. Every time I play this guitar, I literally have to tell myself that it is around half the price of my Gibson SG Custom. Comparatively, I prefer the way the Schecter Demon-6 sounds, and its neck is WAY faster. Go figureโ€ฆ

Schecter Demon-6 Scale Length

The Schecter Demon-6 is designed with shredding in mind. This is a guitar designed for and by metal enthusiasts. The Schecter Demon-6 has a 25.5in scale length and is at home in standard tuning and dropped tunings like Drop D and Drop C. Go any lower than Drop C, though, and youโ€™ll need some thicker strings โ€“ I used these ones.

Beyond this, you have everything need you right out the box. The Schecter Demon-6 holds its tune wonderfully. It is almost as good as my Gibson SG in this regard, thanks to its tuners. You also get a Tune-O-Matic Bridge and the X-jumbo frets, of which there is 24 spread across its rosewood fingerboard.

Schecter Demon-6 Color Options

Initially released in 2018, the Schecter Demon-6 is available in three colors options: Black, Satin Black, and Titanium. Me? I like the Black option. It looks the meanest, although if you want something a little more modern-looking, the Schecter Demon-6โ€™s Strat-style body looks gorgeous in a Titanium finish.

Howโ€™s It Play?

As you can tell from all of the above, Iโ€™m a big fan of the Schecter Demon-6. For less than $450, youโ€™re getting so much guitar here. From the pickups to the overall design and finish of the body, nothing feels or looks out of place. The neck is wonderful to play too; it is rapid and great for both lead and rhythm. The action on mine was spot on out the box too, which is always good.

This guitar is designed for metal and hard rock. Thatโ€™s kind of its whole schtick. It looks the part, sure, but unlike most guitars at this price point, the Schecter Demon-6 walks the walk and talks the talk โ€“ย it sounds monstrous when hooked up to a decent amp, and it plays beautifully in nearly all settings. I run mine through BIAS FX 2 and my Spark Amp and it literally sounds like a $2000 guitar.

Is the Schecter Demon-6 good enough for recording? Hell yes, it is. Iโ€™ve recorded with my Schecter Demon-6 plenty. I also DO NOT buy into the idea that you need a $3000 guitar to make a good-sounding record. Most of the greats used pieces of sh*t in the studio. In this respect, Iโ€™m very much an advocate of doing as much as possible without spending a lot of money.

For live performances and recording in the studio or at home, the Schecter Demon-6 is an ideal choice. It will not break the bank, it plays beautifully, kind of like a PRS actually, and it sounds like an absolute MONSTER when you crank it through a decent amp or effects processors like the Line 6 Helix or the Line 6 Pod.

Is The Schecter Demon-6 Worth It?

For less than $450, the Schecter Demon-6 is by far and away one of the best guitars on the planet now for anyone that wants to play metal and/or hard rock. From its stunning design and earth-moving pickups, the Schecter Demon-6 is one of, if not the, best electric guitars on the market right now for less than $450.

If youโ€™re looking for a new, exotic guitar that isnโ€™t a Squier or an Ibanez, and you want something that really freakinโ€™ cooks, the Schecter Demon-6 is exactly what youโ€™ve been looking for. For metal, punk, rock, grunge, and doom, it is a near-perfect guitar. I find myself playing this guitar more than my more expensive SG. And that should tell you pretty much everything you need to know about the Schecter Demon-6.
